Communicating
with diplomacy and tact is an art in itself. As a leader, if you cannot master
that art then you are not born to be a leader. You have to know exactly what
you are going to say at what time to whom to get your job done perfectly, and
without meaning any offence to anyone. If you are limitlessly bossy, outrageous
and aggressive in your approach, you will never get the respect you deserve and
expect. Instead of that you will be ignored, avoided and will be shown cold
shoulders. Such a situation is detrimental not only for you but for your
business and company as a whole. So, it’s good if you realize why it’s
important to communicate with diplomacy and tact before it’s too late.
· Over here we’ve rounded up some f the
ways to communicate in an effective way -

· Organize or if possible pen down,
what are the points you will hold up to establish a certain thing in the
meeting.
· Try to understand what are the common
objections, you may confront consequently.
· Demonstrate the possible objections
and organize your words and arguments accordingly.
· Keep open the option of negotiation.
If your ideas are coming in constant conflict with someone else’s, then you
have to negotiate in order to reach an agreement.
· Avoid getting into any sort of heated tussle
straightway. Play defensive and don’t forget, all you want to do is to get your
job done.
· Don’t negotiate angrily or
aggressively. Stay calm.
· Ask question rather than placing
statements. Give the opposite party, the option to think. This strategy allows
more exploration of options rather than just stating your opinion.
· Be objective. Jot down the dates,
figures, statistics associated. These will make your argument far more strong
and logical and will limit you from getting deviated from the main points.
· Assertion is a very important trait.
Always keep in mind that dealing things with diplomacy and being tactful don’t
mean you are bowing down in front of others. It means, you have to be assertive
and level headed at the same time.
These are all about how
to be diplomatic and tactful. But in order to exhibit the above points
properly, you need to develop these characteristic traits within yourself.
These attributes depend on a number of factors. They are-
ü Assertiveness
ü Common sense
ü Appropriate sense of Judgment
ü Attentive Listening
ü Emotional Intelligence (understanding
of our owns and other’s emotions clearly)
ü Rapport building with others (this is
also an art in itself. If you have good rapport with maximum people, that will
surely help you in the long run)
ü Good Mannerism
ü Politeness
ü Presence of Mind
ü Honesty

AXEL-2015 - Introduction To Particle Accelerators | starting 19 January
CERN Technical Training 2015: Learning for the LHC
AXEL-2015 is a lecture series on particle accelerators, given at CERN within the framework of the 2014 Technical Training Programme. As part of the BE Department’s Operations Group Shutdown Lecture series, the general accelerator physics module has been organised since 2003 as a joint venture between the BE Department and Technical Training, and is open to the general CERN community.
The AXEL-2015 course is designed for technicians who are operating an accelerator or whose work is closely linked to accelerators, but it is also open to technicians, engineers, and physicists interested in this field. The course does not require any prior knowledge of accelerators. However, some basic knowledge of trigonometry, matrices and differential equations and some basic knowledge of magnetism would be an advantage.
The series will consists of 10 one-hour sessions (Monday 19 January 2015 – Friday 23 January 2015, from 9 a.m. to 10.15 a.m. and from 10.45 a.m. to 12 noon), and will be delivered in English with questions and answers also possible in French. The lecturer is Rende Steerenberg, Deputy Group Leader of the BE Operations Group and PS Section Leader. The programme will cover: basic mathematics; transverse optics; lattice calculations; resonances; longitudinal motion; leptons; transfer lines, injection and ejection; longitudinal and transverse beam instabilities.
Registration is required for this course. Participation in all lectures is encouraged to allow people to gain the maximum benefit; registered participants will be invited and attendance will be recorded in their personal training records.
